But I think Jung was viewed as somewhat less Victorian in his approach, at least! :)

As for "Cuckoo," oh yes! Great movie and great book, and with a lot of similarities to "Snake Pit." There was a Nurse Ratched-type in "Snake Pit" as well, depicted as a frustrated, angry control freak who liked to humiliate her patients, and who was protected from dismissal by a relative in the organization. Nasty piece of work!Adam Thorntonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05634565262440008573noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32999748.post-5913745408924089822010-12-09T12:49:23.731-05:002010-12-09T12:49:23.731-05:00Looks like another "oldie" movie that I ...Looks like another "oldie" movie that I have not seen - but should.

My favorite movie of this genre is "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest." It's amazing how it could be simultaneously so sad and hilarious!

Perhaps the most poignant character in that movie: the inmate who admitted himself, and was not actually confined.

I want MY cigarettes, Nurse Ratched!Garynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32999748.post-26969833898868975832010-11-30T13:57:48.869-05:002010-11-30T13:57:48.869-05:00Why can't I just click on the "like"...Why can't I just click on the "like" button? :) Freud certainly spouted a lot of nonsense him and all his devotees surely qualify as pseudo-intellects. But what about Jung? A more sensible man, no?

I have never known much good done by those who affected to work for the public good.
- Adam Smithjjnoreply@blogger.com
