Dr. Seuss and Flit: "Like a Moth to a Tiki Light"

In other news from September 14, 1929, Dr. Seuss continues to entertain us with his Flit advertisements. This time, a woman is going to a party dressed as a butterfly in a hula skirt, but her husband thinks she'll get killed.

Note the ever present cat, and also note that Seuss' cats tended to have strangely boot-like feet.

Love the cat! A forerunner of the one in the Hat?

Coincidentally, I came across a mention of Flit in an old novel from my parent's place. It is a 1945 whodunit by Elliot Paul called "I'll Hate Myself In The Morning."

Sure enough, there it was - a mention of Flit as a remedy for the mosquitos gathered at an overnight campout.

Alas, there was no Flit to be had!
