I don't give a darn about the song...it's the video that I love. I saw this tonight on Club Renaissance's video screen and I simply couldn't believe it. Just wow.
At first I thought this was all new footage made for the video, but it turns out it's from a movie called "Gals and Gallons" from 1939. The woman is Virginia Mayo.
I'm slightly less impressed (I was amazed at the total recreation of the pre-war look, the strangeness of her silent comments, the incredible musicians at the end), but it's still a real feat of editing, and they've got good taste in films!
Working in films for the first time with former vaudevillians Andy and Florence Mayo's Pansy the Horse act, newcomer Virginia Mayo chose Mayo as her screen name
